Performance by Design, Hydrodynamics for High-Speed Vessels

Performance by Design, Hydrodynamics for High-Speed Vessels by Donald L. Blount.  Though aimed at the university student studying naval architecture and marine engineering, it will certainly interest most designers working with high-speed craft.  Blount tells us “my intent has been to share the technical information, decision criteria, rules of thumb, and the opinionated experiences which have helped me in making choices for developing marine craft intended to operate beyond displacement speeds.” There are many graphs, charts, tables, and formulas to clarify the material in the text.  During a half-century career, Blount has designed many noteworthy vessels, including the record-breaking 222–foot Destriero, 1992 winner of the Blue Ribband.
